  • So my work for this was a lot of fun. I’m really interested in swear words and the idea of swearing and offencive language in the English language. It seems that there are certain words Aussies use or avoid using due to the fact that we are programed to take offence to, without the intention of offence presence (also the opposite is true). I think words are interesting, obviously, and the way in which we choose to use linguistics is even more curious. For example: the fact that there haven’t been many linguists studying the use of swear words in the English language is quite odd to me…. anyway - If your interested to know my thoughts send me an email- but Ill write more on this latter instead of cluttering up le blog with it ;) The below works are just the start of a series I’m going to produce, using children’s craft toys to make these almost cross stitch-esque motives. I like the juxtaposition of something so socially ‘dirty’, in an amazingly bright patterned beads, I had some really great response’s on the night and I’d be ken to hear your thoughts on the works.
